No-waste, sustainable knitwear
Yarn is a precious resource.
Making and designing in this way (creating a piece that works for small quantities of yarn) is one of the methods we use to cut out waste.
And, of course, choosing colours from our yarn library is such a pleasure!

We are very grateful to specialist knitters in the UK mainland who are helping us with part of the production of these scarves and on a selection of other pieces.
Shetland knitters continue to be a core, indispensible part of our production.
And, our in-house, Shetland-based team works on every single piece of Nielanell knitwear. Not just on design, but at various stages of making.
We are committed to sustaining and being part of UK knitwear manufacturing – and Shetland’s place in this.
Our strippit scarves are worn by lots of different people.
We were delighted when a local celebrity – Farhad, one of our posties at the time! – let us snap him wearing a Marlet scarf as he dropped off some parcels to us.
We really do make these in small batches. The scarf that Farhad is wearing here quickly sold out.
